One Skirt, Two Ways

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a post on how to wear one item multiple ways, so I’m bringing it back by showing you how to switch up a chambray skirt (last seen here, looking quite patriotic on the 4th of July).

Before I begin, here’s my tip of the day: an upshot photo of an already shortish skirt makes said skirt appear much shorter than it already was. Unless you’re looking to show off the goods, I’d keep it at ground level.

And here’s a bonus tip: It would appear that other mothers visiting the park think it’s very sweet that you’ve brought your camera with you, until they realize that your child is actually taking YOUR picture. And when they see you’ve brought an outfit change, the eyebrows REALLY get raised. Keep this in mind when planning your next photo shoot.A basic white tee gets a super charge with some Wild Ruffle chain link necklaces and silver caged earrings, paired with sky high faux snakeskin platforms from BCBG.

A quick change into a Merona button down, silver JCrew loafers, and a necklace of my mom’s circa mid-1980s makes this look a bit more casual (and perhaps a little more appropriate for chasing the kiddos around).

My mom’s closet is chock full of great stuff, just waiting for me to wear them. How could I resist this one?

  • I just got back from vacation (and have seriously been researching cheap flights – without luck – to leave again because it’s so stinking cold here!). Tammy’s headed out in a few weeks to a warm destination. So we both have the tropics on our minds. We thought we’d put together a handy little vacation… [Continue Reading]

  • My 12 year old was over at a friend’s house last weekend. While most of the time I’m arresting her phone and entering it into our family phone-jail, this time was different. I am proud to say she wasn’t glued to her phone… this time, she was glued to a newspaper! What? Yes. Adaline and… [Continue Reading]

  • As I mentioned last week {here}, we were invited to the Twin Cities Oscar Experience 2015. It proved to be a fabulous soirée with food, Hollywood fashion and most importantly… giving back to the community! All proceeds are split between non-profits, Twin Cities Film Fest and Aegis Foundation. Cate was unable to attend at the last minute… [Continue Reading]

  • Someone take me back to Arizona asap. Seriously – it’s so stinking cold here in Minnesota! I love my home state, but when you board a plane in 80 degree weather, and return to -5 degrees, it’s rough going. I know, I know – I’m not going to inspire sympathy from many around here. After… [Continue Reading]

  • I’ve shard in the past my struggles with sleeping. (check out this post – our readers shared TONS of great ideas for getting better sleep at night!) There is nothing like the feeling of being well rested. And if there is any time I’m going to catch up on my zzz’s, it’s while I’m on… [Continue Reading]

  8. Omgosh your story was hilarious! My neighbors think I’m a little strange because my daughter takes my pictures sometimes as well. I’ve gotta give you a big virtual high five for changing outfits at the park! You’ve got a job to do and your gonna do it :) And thank you so much for showing different ways to wear the same item! :)
