And I Almost Missed It

I am very busy.

And this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

My life is filled with all kinds of positive busyness. And on one particular day I went from organizing my closet to doing my study to working on the blog to feeding my kids to… you get the picture. Time and time again, I told my children, “I’ll be there in a minute. Just a second; I’m in the middle of something.”

And suddenly, in the midst of it all, I looked up. And there, streaming in the window, were beautiful rays of light.

And it suddenly hit me – I almost missed it. I almost missed the joy in my backyard right now.

And how many other moments of joy am I missing while I’m busy?

So I grabbed my daughter and out we went to enjoy it instead of letting the moment slip by. And we jumped, and we played, and we DIDN’T MISS IT.

I was inspired by the links my friend Maggie shared yesterday. They really resonated with me – I’ve got stuff to do, and while I need to get them done, I don’t want life to pass me by in the meantime. I know this post is a departure from my norm – but I felt like sharing more from the heart today.

So get out there and don’t miss a moment this weekend!

Do you ever feel like the busyness of life keeps you from enjoying it? Or is that just me?

  • On the Eve of Thanksgiving this year, I’m feeling lots of love and gratitude toward my family, friends and you {Wild Ruffle Readers}! My life has been crazy chaos lately.  Starting way back last summer, this fall, and even up through last weekend. I’ve been running like my head’s cut off. Which you have so graciously read… [Continue Reading]

  • My husband recently surprised me by saying he had purchased tickets to a Garth Brooks concert. Not growing up a country music fan, I wondered if I would know any of the songs, and whether I’d really enjoy myself at the show. I gotta say – I truly did have fun. Though I didn’t necessarily… [Continue Reading]

  • I am generally a fairly happy go lucky kind of girl. I don’t worry about much, and I have a tendency to think that everything will turn out ok in the end. But opening a storefront… it’s a lot of work. It’s pretty darn stressful. I knew it would be. And I readily signed up… [Continue Reading]

  • Lordy Lordy guess who’s…. just kidding. I’m not going to be that dorky! But you get the hint. I’m turning 40 tomorrow!  AAhhh! I don’t mind turning 40. I just don’t like the wrinkles, moodiness and body changes that comes with it. *sigh In honor of my 40th birthday I’m letting you in on 40 random… [Continue Reading]

  1. Pretty pics! I do agree that sometimes I’m so busy it all passes me by. I can’t believe the summer is half over. I need to cherish it because my youngest starts kindergarten. I can’t believe how it just passes by–gotta cherish. Thanks for the reminder!
