Fun Finds on Friday

As you know, each Friday I bring you the latest and greatest that I’ve found online. This week, my friend Jennifer is filling in for me. As a fellow fan of Nordstrom, jewelry, and all around lover of all things lovely, I know you’re going to love what’s she’s found for you!

As a Senior Stylist for Stella & Dot I have the wonderful opportunity to help women build their accessories wardrobes with unique pieces they love that always garner lots of compliments. Freshly back from our national convention Hoopla in San Francisco I am inspired by the romantic, vintage inspired trends we are seeing in fashion, make-up and of course accessories. I’m excited to share my fun finds for Friday on Wild Ruffle – my favorite fashion blog.

At Hoopla, we had the chance to hear the inspiration behind our beautiful fall collection straight from our Chief Creative Officer Blythe Harris. Blythe studied at the Parson’s school of Design in Paris and was awarded the Fashion Group International Rising Star Award for accessories.

The Lace Story is among my favorites in the new Stella & Dot collection. Lace is a timeless fashion classic and Blythe and her team took her grandmother Dot’s lace samples from the 20’s and recreated the textures and intricacies of lace into necklaces, cuffs, rings and earrings. The delicate, vintage inspired pieces make an easy addition to any wardrobe statement.

My five -year old Audrey and I were able to gain early access to the always fabulous Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year (the sale officially begins today). Here are three of my favorite finds from our girls shopping trip last Friday.

I have had a pair of Frye boots on my wish-list for years.  When I saw this timeless, classic, gorgeous pair I couldn’t resist.

Ella Moss is one of my favorite designers and loved the color, texture and drape of this top.

Hudson jeans are among my favorite jeans and the color and cut of the Hudson Collette skinny jean make these a fall wardrobe staple.

I arrived early at Hoopla and had the chance to shop the boutique filled Fillmore Street and Hays Valley with some fellow Stella & Dot Stylists.  I can’t remember the last time I had this much time to shop with girlfriends! My stylist friends introduced me to the playful and fun San Francisco based Benefit Cosmetics flagship store on Fillmore street. We all had our make up done to get us gorgeous for the first time Hoopla attendee reception.  The under eye erase paste & ultra shine lip gloss in “so frisk me” were my favorites.

At Hoopla there was a Bare Essentials Minerals Beauty Bar and in our swag bags we got a Bare Essentials Minerals Eye Shadow.  A smoky eye plays up on the romantics trend and I fell in love with the palette called Hidden Agenda with the colors Stealth & Undercover I received. Be sure to check out the Bare Essential Minerals website.  You can sign up for their free loyalty program and choose a shopping day to receive 15% off on your order.  It’s a fun site to navigate too.

I hope I have inspired you to play with the romantics trends this fall.  I look forward to meeting local readers in person at the Wild Ruffle/Stella & Dot trunk show on July 25th from 6-9 pm at the Houndstooth Boutique – located on 582 Prairie Center Drive in Eden Prairie.  One lucky winner will receive one of my favorite new charm necklaces – The Lucky Charm!

  • Most Mondays, you can find me at my children’s school, volunteering for kindergarten reading. There’s usually some instruction that goes along with whatever I’m to do that day. Something specific I’m supposed to do with the groups that come out into the hall with me. But the other day, the teacher couldn’t remember how to… [Continue Reading]

  • It’s Friday – hurrah! Re-entry into regular life after spring break is always tough, and it makes for a long week. Tammy is back from the Dominican Republic, and me? Well, I stayed here – but I did manage to have a little fun during our week off of school. And we’re both back with… [Continue Reading]

  • Whenever there’s a holiday, you can be sure we’re incorporating food into it in a big way. One of our morning favorites is a baked French toast casserole. It’s perfect for Easter brunch, or Christmas morning (or pretty much any day that you’re craving a delicious breakfast). Over the years, we’ve adapted and tweaked an… [Continue Reading]

  • I wish I could say I was different than the norm, but I’m not. While I realize most people try to fit in, I’ve spend a considerable amount of time trying to stand out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not crazy. I don’t push the envelope too drastically. I mean I still buy random clothes from Target so… [Continue Reading]

  • Every winter, I schedule a chemical peel at Dr. Prischmann’s office. I’ve mentioned before that I have melasma, and this helps to lighten some of the discoloration from that. Plus, I love having fresh and new skin once a year for so many reasons. Typically, I schedule my appointments for the winter months, because the… [Continue Reading]
