That’s how I’d describe our household these days.
We’re at that wonky stage of the year where it’s not quite spring, and the kids are just tired of playing inside so much (when they do get outside, they come back in covered with mud). And it’s making them cranky, especially with one another. At least that’s what I’m telling myself as I hear them bicker.
The other day, on the way to school, I had to have a chat with them.
“We are a family who loves one another,” I told them. “Let’s start acting like it. And if you don’t feel like acting the part, then pretend you love your siblings.”
That’s right – we have been reduced to the fake it until you make it mentally with sibling love. Ugh.
Truth be told, I’m feeling a little cranky myself. At least when it comes to getting dressed. I want to be putting on spring weight clothing. I’m done with all these layers. Give me sunshine on my shoulders! Maybe that’s why I wore short sleeves on a 16 degree day recently (pictured below).
Thankfully, I’ll be heading off to the sunny south of the border weather soon enough. I’m counting down the days – I can’t wait! The best part of our trip? We won’t have wifi! We are paying for it for two days, so Ed can check in with his office. Other than that, it’s time with phones down and face to face family interactions. We’re going to love each other, darn it – whether we want to or not! 😉
