Guess what? We are moving!

Yep. Me and my family, we are packing up and moving.

We are headed south. And I’m feeling pretty nervous about it. But I know that, in the end, I’ll be happy that it happened. Because good things are coming as a result of this move. I’ve actually been hoping this would happen for awhile now, and I’m excited that the day has finally come.

If you are thinking to yourself – wait, what?! – then allow me to explain. We ARE headed south… directly south, to our basement. We are re-doing our floors on the main level, and can’t walk on them for the week it takes to finish. We’re pulling up the carpeting (when I say, “we” I actually mean the team of people we’ve hired to make that happen), and running our hardwood throughout most of the main floor of our house.

Our walnut floors have seen a lot of action in the last ten years we’ve lived here, and the clear coat on top is now wearing off. It’s time to refinish them. And somehow, I miraculously managed to talk my husband into pulling up our family room carpet (which either needed to be replaced or pulled up anyway). I can’t wait to see the finished product. I did remember to take some ‘before’ pictures so I’d have photographic evidence of the changes being made. I’ll be sure to share them with you guys once everything is all done.

In the meantime, I am packing us all up for a week of basement dwelling. We need school clothes, dress clothes for church, clothing for a pool party, a beach party, dance classes, baseball practices and games… we need food that works for every meal of the day, but with only a convection microwave to cook and a beverage fridge to hold the food, it needs to be simple. I need my computer and camera, and everything else it takes to run Wild Ruffle. I won’t have access to our washing machine or dryer, so if they get dirty the kids just have to deal with it (which will bug me far more than them).

We’re going to snuggle together in our one bedroom and bathroom downstairs, try not to get on each others nerves (or wake one another up at our multiple alarm times in the morning), and look forward to seeing our beautiful new flooring when the whole thing is done.

If you see me in the same clothing over and over again, like this romper (found at the shop online here), paired with this necklace (also found online here), and this favorite pair of shoes (c/o shopbop.com – here’s a similar pair on sale), don’t judge. We’re just making it work.
