One Dress, Five Ways

I feel strongly about the fact that it doesn’t take much to make your look pop – a few accessories go a long way to transform a basic piece into something that stands out in a crowd. The proof? I took a simple black dress (don’t we all have one in our closets?) and made it work for just about any occasion with the addition of new accessories each time.

You shouldn’t have to fill your closet with tons of different things in order to feel like you’re rocking a stylish look. Instead, you can take something classic and simple and make it work for you.

The dress:

Everyday easy: I just added a pair of tights, cardigan, and a favorite pair of booties.

Just a little edge: tall heels and some spiky details.

Casual and comfy: flats and a pop of color.

Ready for a night out: sassy heels and not a lot else were needed for this one.

Business savvy: a classic blazer, textured tights, and the addition of a crisp white button down.

What items do you have in your closet that you can re-work to wear it in a whole new way? Do you like to switch things up or stick to what you know? Isn’t it amazing how different you can make one item look just by changing up the accessories?

  1. Cate! I LOVE everything you’ve done with just 1 simple black dress! Especially in Business Savvy – I never would be able to tell it’s the same dress as Cas and Comfy. I am not sure what I have in my closet, but you’ve definitely inspired me to look!
