Have you ever headed out to go shopping armed with the latest fashion knowledge and ready to spend some money, only to feel totally overwhelmed once you actually hit the stores? Do you ever put off shopping because between work, shuffling your kids around to various activities, and living your busy life, there doesn’t seem to be enough time to put a closet refresh on the calendar? The last time you had a special event to dress for, did you have to stop at store after store, trying on everything in stock before you found “the one?”

We’re all short on time, so let’s not waste what little we’ve got struggling with our personal wardrobe malfunctions. My advice? Find a personal shopper and let them do the work for you. Many stores offer this service, and most of those offer it free of charge. A personal shopper is trained to decipher your needs and your style quickly and efficiently. Just picture it: at a convenient time of your choosing, you walk into your favorite shop to find a fitting room ready and waiting, filled with clothing designed to suit you!

I’m probably more passionate about the subject than most, as my mom has been a personal shopper at J. Crew Southdale for 18 years. She is amazing at what she does! Time and time again I have had people rave about the service they received from her, extolling her virtues on the sales floor. I always joke that she’s like a celebrity – I rarely go out with her without hearing, “Hey! It’s the J. Crew lady!” at least once.

I am a big fan of anything that makes life easier. Find a personal shopper at a store near you. If you happen to live in the Twin Cities area, give my mom a call. Take a friend with you, and if you spend $125, you get to take 20% off your purchases! Saving time, energy and money too? That sounds like smart shopping to me!
