If you’ve been reading for awhile, then you know that I love all things fashion. But before we take this relationship any further, I thought I’d let you in on a few more bits and pieces of my life.

I prefer heels to flats, any day of the week. Whether grocery shopping or gardening, playing with the kids or putting dinner on the table, you’ll usually find me in heels. I know it sounds crazy, but I blame this oddity on my high arches and years of dance that kept me on my toes.

I worked at Nordstrom for ten years, which is where I developed a love of fashion (it also didn’t hurt that I have a fabulously fashionable mom as well!). I started in high school as the “dump girl” in the Town Square department, stayed on through college, and went into management when I was done with school. It’s sort of surprising that I stuck with it, because being a dump girl was exactly as glamorous as the job title sounds.

I would wear a dress every day if I had my druthers. For me, the right dress is comfier than sweats.

If any part of my body touches the walls at any point during my shower, I start the process over. It’s bizarre. I know this. It’s a good thing I have a big shower, or I’d be in there forever.

My faith is really important to me, and I try to spend quality time every day with the Lord. I often fail, but I try.

I love taking walks with my husband, reading a really good book, a fire crackling on a chilly night, and the sound of the ocean.

I am relaxed and easy going about most things in life, and I rarely worry or stress. The exception to this is the egg count in my house. You thought the shower thing was looney tunes? Well, it gets worse. I can’t stand having an odd number of eggs in the carton. It really bugs me. If a recipe calls for just one egg, I will go out of my way to find a use for another one so that the number remains even. Yeah, I’ve got some issues.

I scored when I comes to family! I actually look forward to reunions because they are so much fun. I’m really close to my parents, and my brother is a great uncle to the kids. My in-laws have welcomed me like I was their own – my sisters-in-law are the sisters I always wanted while growing up. I also have friends that feel like family, and I am so thankful for them.

I hate bananas. A lot.

I love making jewelry and blogging, but my first job is being a stay-at-home mom to my three kids. The time with them is zipping by, and I’m blessed to be able to be with them for so much of their little lives.

Well, there’s my life in a nutshell, and all the quirks that come with it. Thanks for reading along and getting to know a bit more about me. I’d love to know more about you too! What would you like to share about yourself today?

  6. Hi Cate,

My name is KC Owens, I’m a college student and I love to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found your site and really enjoyed reading your posts. I have been to countries all over Europe with just my backpack and a camera. Since I am a college student and I have significant bills, it can be difficult to find ways to travel the world. However, I have done this several times, with less than ten pounds of luggage and while on a college dime!

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your site to share my tips and tricks with your readers. I put a lot of time into my traveling, it is my biggest passion and I would love to inspire others by sharing my stories, mistakes and triumphs. I look forward to hearing from you!

  7. I am so happy I found your blog! I am a fellow Minnesotan, too, so it’s fun to read about what other local women and moms are writing about. I recently started blogging after quitting my job to be a stay-at-home mom, so I am looking for inspiration, motivation and tips from fellow bloggers.

  8. You make me giggle! I have to agree with a few of these. I eat bananas but I gag at some point during eating them almost every time. I guess I forget that they gross me out until I am eating them. 🙁 My first job was in retail and I did not forsee myself staying for more than a few months when I started. I ended up staying for 4 years.

Thanks for sharing your funny things that make you, you!
