As a busy mom of three, I like to stick to my routines. Most of the time, it works for me, but when it comes to beauty it can mean I get stuck in a rut. I know my products, I know how they work and what they’ll do for me, and I can put them all on in no time flat.
As a blogger, I spend a lot of time looking at trends online – I’ve been noticing some great things happening in beauty lately. It inspired me to challenge myself to step out and try something new. I’m a product junkie and have a drawer full of stuff that’s not seeing daylight – so why not?
The first look I tried was 60s natural. To achieve something similar, try sweeping a soft colored blush across the cheeks (I used M-A-C in Tenderling), keeping the eyes neutral (I used M-A-C in Bisque), and using a matte nude tone on the lips (I used Bobbi Brown in Brownie). The result was something not too far from my everyday look (I generally add eyeliner and a brighter liptone), and is something I could see myself doing again. The next trend I went for was 70s glam. This was bolder and brighter than the first by far! It called for bold coral blush on the cheeks (I used a creme blush, M-A-C in Variety), a bright coral lip (I used the same creme blush on the lips with a little Bobbi Brown clear lip gloss for shine), and heavy eyeliner (I used Lancome in Black Lapis), with metallic shadow on the lids (I used M-A-C in Honey Lust). It doesn’t seem to matter what color I put on my lips – it always comes out looking pink. Since this is a stronger look, I could see myself trying it again for a night out, but probably not to my next play date with the kids in tow.
Do you experiment with color or stick to your routine? What beauty trend should I try next?
