I am not boho.
I gravitate toward strong, chunky pieces of jewelry, solid colors, and sky high stilettos. I love a ladylike skirt with a fitted top and kitten heels. Color blocking – yep, I’m in. Give me a fashion trend, and I’ll usually give it a whirl at some point.
But wispy, flowy frocks that hint of patchouli and peace, love and harmony? Lovely on many – not so much on me.
And yet, on a recent shopping trip (in a store that shall remain nameless because of its terrible return policy), I decided to challenge myself. To get out of the box, if you will. Because of the aforementioned policy, what I thought was going to be a return was now an exchange, and that’s when I decided to get creative. I forced myself to try on items that I would never normally choose.
Guess what? I fell in love with this little crochet number. And though it’s unlike anything else in my closet, that’s sort of what I love about it. I’m out of my element, and it’s really fun!
By the way, take a close look at the red coral handmade Wild Ruffle earrings I’m wearing – I’m giving away a pair just like them on Josiah’s Nest on June 23rd.
A little closeup crochet detail.
The shoes? Totally me. Nothing out of my comfort zone there.
So, do you challenge yourself when shopping? Or are you buying the same sort of things again and again? I may not be ready to change up my entire style, but this out of the box purchase was eye opening for me – sometimes it’s fun to switch things up.
