By now, most of you have heard of Pinterest, a world of beautiful and inspiring photos, organized into categories.

Pinterest is a wonderful time sucker – full of interesting crafts, yummy recipes, stylish clothing, beauty tips, and more. If you’ve ever spent time on it, then you’ve probably pinned a bunch of amazing photos, but when was the last time you tried to do something you pinned?

It’s really fun to dream about the big event you’re going to plan, inspired by the gorgeous table set you saw. But you wanna know what’s even more fun? Getting out there and actually having the party. Fell in love with that sparkly mani? Try it out! The worst that can happen is that your version doesn’t turn out as cute. And then? Try something else instead!

Here is a small sampling of things I pinned, and then tried on my own:

Ed and I hosted a gathering at our place for some of his co-workers. On the menu? Little brownie Santa hats I spotted on Pinterest.

Two of my closest high school friends always had Starlight mints on hand, and this pedi made me think of them. I borrowed the idea, but made it my own by doing it as a mani instead.

Remember when you voted for the hairstyle I should wear as a bridesmaid in Laura’s wedding? Well, this one won by a landslide between Facebook, Twitter, and your comments.  Considering that the day was incredibly windy, I think my version held up pretty well!

Have you pinned anything and actually tried it? I’d love to hear all about it.

**If you’re not on Pinterest yet, and want to be, avoid the 30 day wait list and leave a comment below – I’ll send you an invite. If you are, leave a comment and let me know your username – I’d love to check out your boards!

  1. Love pinterest! Just made the kid’s teacher gifts yesterday, found numerous great hiding places for Jingle our elf, made the BEST ever buffalo chicken sandwiches, made and shared christmas crack (yes, it’s that addictive) and stumped my secret santa with cute printables I found – just this week on pinterest. I’m addicted and inspired!

  2. I haven’t done anything crafty yet… but will after the new year! I’ve made 2 recipes so far… one was super tasty and the other just OK! It’s fun to try new things though! I love Pinterest!!

  3. I have heard about Pinterest and have wanted to check it out for a long time…I would love an invite! Love the Santa hats!

  4. Your santa brownies turned out fabulous. Pinterest has inspired snowflakes out of coffee filters, my canvas wall, chalkboard fridge, and about a dozen recipes. My modge podge photos for the wall are on the docket for tomorrow. Hoping to accomplish more after the holidays 🙂 Oh how I adore Pinterest!

  5. I love to see how pinners try ideas they’ve seen on Pinterest. Your versions came out great! I’m on Pinterest too: julieweilbacher. I’ve made desserts & crafts from pictures I’ve pinned. It’s such a guilty pleasure to look at all the pretty pictures.
