My Two Cents

I am not one to shout about my political beliefs.

In fact, I really don’t even whisper them.

I certainly don’t share those beliefs on my style blog.

I know where I stand on most issues, and like most people, there are gray areas in which I struggle.

But here’s what I know for sure.

I know that as a country we are growing more and more hateful.

I know that I’m sick of opening Facebook and seeing scurrilous attacks on each other from both sides.

I know that people re-post pictures from groups with crazy names like “Democrats Are All Going to Hell” or “Republican Are the Scourge of the Earth” and that these pages have thousands upon thousands of likes, and that it sickens me that we as a people detest each other so much.

I know that the collective “you and I” are never going to see eye to eye on every issue, but I also know that there shouldn’t be room for such terrifying hatred in the midst of it.

I firmly believe that we should all have our say, but for goodness sakes, say it nicely. Get worked up, debate the issues with those who disagree, but do it with respect. My kids would be sitting their butts in a nice long time out for treating each other so unkindly, but as adults we justify our actions and words in the name of our beliefs.

Enough is enough.

And in other news, I wore an outfit, and here it is.

skirt – The Vintage Gypsy, tights – DKNY, top – Von Maur

  1. I couldn’t agree more with you. There is SO. MUCH. HATE. I’ve been living in europe for the past year and it’s given me an outside perspective. Americans need to wake up and realize that the world is bigger than that – there are good liberals and good conservatives and good christians and good athiests…as well as bad ones on ALL sides. Hatred does nothing except make us hypocrites.

On a lighter note, your outfit is lovely. The pattern on that skirt is to die for.

  2. I’m with you on the political backbiting on FBook and everywhere else right now. It is sad. Everyone says that they don’t like negative political ads but “studies” show that they work. Yuck. On the other hand you look adorable!

  3. I hear you about all the negativity in this campaign. It’s sad we all can’t even agree to disagree anymore. Either way, you look fab with your skirt and the black turtleneck. Super cute. Heather

For the love of all that is holy, I do not understand why people think Facebook is an awesome place to have a political debate.

    Love your outfit!
