I rarely get manicures.
In fact, I hardly ever paint my nails these days (this tutorial may have been the last time I bothered!).
Between constant hand washing and making jewelry, every nail color chips right off. I’ve been told I should try a gel mani since they last so long, but I never seem to find the time to get to a salon and have it done.
That’s why I’m so excited to have found this product at Sally’s Beauty Supply – Gelous gel polish. Now I can achieve a gel mani right at home! It’s perfect timing too, because with a 9 day trip coming up in two days, I want this color to last.
I found instructions online, but had to experiment a bit. With all the layers the other sites told me to add, I ended up with smudgy nails, even after waiting hours for them to dry. Below you’ll find what worked for me. Be sure to start with a clean surface, free of lotions or oils.
Step 1) Apply Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat. Wait a couple minutes to allow to dry.
Step 2) Apply color of choice – I used Sephora by OPI Metro Chic. Wait a couple minutes to allow to dry.
Step 3) Apply another coat of Gelous polish, making sure to cover the tips so that you’re more chip resistant. Wait a couple minutes to allow to dry.
Step 4) Apply another coat of color. Wait a couple minutes to allow to dry.
Step 5) Apply top coat of choice (I used Nicole by OPI). Wait a couple minutes to allow to dry.
Have you tried an at-home gel mani yet?
