Time to Re-evaluate

My weekend away got the ball rolling on some ideas I’ve needed to process for awhile, and just never found the time to before this.

Not only did I get to spend some valuable time with my daughter, I got to have some great conversations with a few of my amazing friends. Out of these conversations came a few realizations.

First of all, I have a lot of distractions in my life. I grasp at every shiny thing that comes my way because it seems so great at the time. And I often miss what is right in front of my face.

I don’t want to be the mom at the park pushing my kids on the swing with one hand while I scroll through my Facebook feed with the other.

And so –

I deleted the app from my phone. Easy answer right?

I kept Messenger and my Page app – and I’m certainly not ready to deactivate my account, but after only one day of getting rid of the main page I felt more focused on my kids AND on my life. I didn’t get sucked in for 5 minutes here, and a few minutes there. And I loved it. I have plenty of time to check the latest updates on all my friends’ lives when I sit at my computer, but I don’t need to do it while walking through Target.

I have some re-evaluating to do with my business. There are aspects of it that are no longer bringing me joy, and those are the things that need to go. I’ll keep you posted on some changes to come.

Change is great, isn’t it? Particularly when it propels you forward into a better version of who you’ve been created to be.

Have you made any big changes lately for the good?

And on a completely note, I thought I’d share with you all my ensemble from my big event!

  1. I love your dress! It is so fun with the pop of green from your cute blazer. I love the mix of the flowy dress with a bit of structure from the blazer and a little toughness from the boots! Cute! Oh, Facebook. It is so easy to get sucked in. I have been going on less and less, too. But I haven’t deleted the app on my phone…yet…we shall see!

  2. I actually just took the Facebook app off my phone last week! I think it was a very smart thing to do and makes me more in the moment and less scattered feeling. I love it!

  3. Glad to hear about the good changes coming in your life! I’ve been making some changes to my life as well. After all, I am graduating and going to officially be an adult. My changes: start recycling, save money, maintain a cleaner house and spend more time on me (reading my favorite books, learning to cook, and writing).

On another note, cute dress! Love how you paired it with that green jacket!

  4. I’ve also been thinking about deleting the Facebook app (and Pinterest too) from my phone . I spend way to much time idly browsing it, when I could be using that time to focus on my own life and ideas! Look forward to seeing what changes you’ll be making soon!

  5. I love your outfit! The stripes and the green is such a great combo! I found myself thinking the other day about what I did before I had an iPhone – how did I kill time when I was waiting for something else? I probably did a lot more productive things that’s for sure!

  6. Great dress and beautiful colour on that jacket. The realisations are half the war won! Good luck with any changes you make. Nice to meet you via The Pleated Poppy’s bloghop 🙂

  9. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang
    of it!
