Why is it that sometimes you get dressed, look in the mirror and like what you see – and then when you see it in photos it looks totally different (and perhaps not nearly as flattering)?

Maybe it’s just me, because I so often have photos taken of what I’m wearing.

But sometimes it takes seeing it on (digital) film to see that it’s a combo you may not want to pair up again.

All of these pieces individually should make sense. Awesome shoes I wanted forever and finally bought when they went on sale? Check. Super clearanced (only $6!!) faux leather skirt? Check. Favorite new necklaces from the Wild Ruffle shop (available at our next Pop Up Shop)? Yep. Cozy sweater and tank from a local shop I love? Mmhmm.

I love them all – just not together on me.

But what DOES make sense, all the time? Dumpster pictures. Seriously. They’re my favorite spot for a photo op. Anyone else with me?

  1. I hate when that happens. Especially if you wear the outfit all day, then take photos, and then look and see that the outfit did not look as great as you thought. The worst. But I actually think this looks super cute on you! And I might have to make the trip out to your pop up, because I am in love with those necklaces!

  2. Yes, I too hate when that happens. But then again we women are hard on ourselves. About the dumpsters outfit: I think the top needs to be very fitted to show your shape, the shawl is too ‘granny’ looking otherwise the jewelry is fine and maybe a fun colorful hat and you are good to go!

  3. Honestly, I think you look great–but I feel like there really are pieces that look better in real life than they do photographed. I have some sequin shirts that I’m always happy to wear…but I don’t necessarily love the way they look in pictures!

  4. I honestly think this looks really cute on you. I know what you mean about pictures. Most of the time I feel prettier than it ends up looking on film. I do think we are too hard on ourselves!
