In case you hadn’t heard, the Wild Ruffle girls love to throw a party.
And what’s a good party without great decor, delicious drinks, and a yummy get-in-my-belly kind of appetizer?
Because we love you all so much, we decided to share some fun photos with all of you, including a couple of on-the-fly recipes we came up with that we’ll be serving our guests at summer soirees – starting this weekend, with Memorial Day.
First up? A summery cocktail that’ll keep you cool and refreshed. We call it Watermelon Slush with Vodka.
Just freeze some watermelon cubes (just be sure to take out the seeds) – you’ll want about a cup. Pop them into a blender with 2 ounces of simple syrup, 2 ounces of triplesec, and a cup of vodka. Blend, pour, add desired garnishes, and enjoy!
With our drinks poured, we set about welcoming our guests with some front porch decor. The giant circle (anyone know what this was in its first life?!), the tin planter (first spotted here), and the watering can were all purchased at my favorite vintage spot.
The porch is set for Memorial Day, but it’ll be an easy transition to the 4th of July too!
We’ve also got a super tasty treat for you as well – our Watermelon Cucumber Salad. It’s not really a salad per se, but more of a stack of yum. Maybe that should be its official name. Hmmm…
Cube your watermelon, then slice up some cucumbers. Halve some grape tomatoes (we used yellow to add color interest). Thinly slice some Havarti cheese (or do what we did and buy it pre-sliced, and just cut it into four pieces per slice), and layer these ingredients, stacking on top of one another. Add salt and pepper to taste, then drizzle balsamic vinaigrette over the cubes. Bite in, and prepare for an explosion of happy in your mouth.
Not a fan of watermelon? Try this tasty drink recipe, and this Chipotle copycat meal – both surefire hits for your guests.
Don’t forget to pin these pictures to save them for later use!
