I love this time of year.
Not simply because of the fabulous weather (though after waiting all winter to bare those legs, it sure is nice).
But mainly because I get to spend so much more time with my kids.
They’re all off of school. We put as little on the schedule as possible. We don’t commit to much, and spend lazy mornings in our jammies as often as possible. I’m typing this at 10 am, and my oldest is still snoozing. It’s glorious.
All too soon September will be here and they’ll be heading off to school again. With my two littlest ones starting kindergarten, I plan to be as relaxed as can be while we still can.
On our list of to-dos this season (in addition to a couple of family trips):
– Take regular walks and explore our little section of the world as much as we can. There’s a tree in the woods near us with a door marked Dr. Spoon, which is a perfect jumping off point to the use of our imaginations.
– Snuggle on the screened porch. This is one of our favorite spots in the house this time of year, and I plan to make the most of it.
– Get out on the water. We live in a lake town – why not enjoy it?
– Visit friends. Especially this one, who just made the decision to leave her job and stay at home with her baby.
