Photograph Me

A major part of blogging is photography.

And being 1/2 of Wild Ruffle means I both, take pictures and pose for pictures. This requires a great many things. One of the most important aspects is to use a high quality camera. Photographs sell your feelings and speak volumes of the message you are trying to convey.  Making a dramatic impact on your post as a whole.

I searched high and low for the perfect camera-fit. Read many reviews all to just confuse me more and more. And to top it all off, once you figure out the brand you want to go with, you must decide model and then throw yourself into the crazy world of lens!  It’s enough to make your head spin right off.

After weeks of research, I finally talked to my favorite photographer, Cari from DugansInCahoots.  Basically it went down like this… What exact camera do you have because I want magical photos like yours?! Whether she’s snapping a shot of her daughter sleeping or dirty dishes on the counter… her pictures ooze art. I dig that about her.

I proceeded to copy her almost exactly. Cari’s exact camera was discontinued so I went with the replacement model. I waited with bated breathe for my new golden package to arrive.

Finally it was here! My new toy leaped into my arms as soon as we laid eyes on each other. Well… maybe it wasn’t that dramatic, I can’t remember exactly.

But since our beautiful beginning together, we’ve since been in a fight. I can’t seem to figure my new love out. My last camera was a digital SLR as well so I thought I’d have this new one down within no time. I was sorely mistaken.

I’m not as perfect as my magical camera would like me to be. I’ll get it, I promise! I learn something new everyday.

So hopefully as the weeks go by, you will witness my photos improving with each shot skillfully taken. All of the pictures will sharpen up a bit and all will be right in the Wild Ruffle blogger world.

Much camera love to you all.

What do you like capturing your moments with? A digital SLR, an old film camera or the most handy… your smartphone?

  1. I have a DSLR, too. We’ve had it for years and I still haven’t spent much time trying to actually learn how to use it to it’s fullest. I should and someday I will, but for now I just point and shoot and hope for the best! I love this layered look. I have that sweater and have never thought to layer it over a striped tank. I love it and will be copying you!

  2. Your class last winter helped me a ton–but I’m still learning. And I love taking pics with my phone, but phones can only do so much. Your pics always look great, so whatever you’re doing…keep doing it! Oh, & don’t we all wish our pics turned out like Cari’s? She’s an artist. A true talent. Cute look, by the way!

  3. Great mix of patterns in this outfit!! I usually use my iphone for pictures & the struggle is real for our big kids camera that I do NOT know how to use yet!! :/

  4. Love the outfit!! On a side note, if you buy Rachel Ray’s cook set you will NOT be able to cook like her :-). Same goes with a camera. Buying a good DSLR doesn’t mean you will get the same pics as your favorite photographer (thank goodness!).
