Today is my birthday!
And even though I know you’re not supposed to toot your own horn, I just love birthdays so much that I can’t help but get excited about this day each year (don’t worry – I get just as excited about other people’s birthdays as I do about my own).
I’m planning to start the day with a trip to the Junk Bonanza with some friends. A vintage scale for my kitchen is on my list to be looking out for – it’ll be my little birthday present to myself, should I find the perfect one.
The rest of the weekend will be spent running my girls to a dance competition… for three days in a row. Not exactly a crazy birthday soirée, but hey – there will be other years for that.
No plans to be crying on this day, nor do I want to. I take each year as a reminder to be grateful for the life that I lead. And I don’t mind seeing the number grow larger (though ask me when I’m out of my thirties and the answer may change) with each passing year. Sometimes I look in the mirror and am surprised to see those fine lines creeping across my face, but I’m trying to remember that each one got there from many years of laughter and fun.
On this day, 38 years ago, a cone headed baby girl made her way into this world. And today, she’s going to celebrate life to the fullest.
