In this day and age, it seems that we get more bad news than good. Turn on the news, or scroll through your favorite social media site, and you’ll see post after post about how everybody hates everybody else – it seems like we live in a dark and gloomy time.
Now more than ever, we’ve got to look outside ourselves and see the need in our communities. There are so many different ways to do this – we recently had friends who went out and painted park sheds, pulled weeds at the local library, and cleaned up a park. Our family likes to spend time volunteering at an organization that feeds hungry children. And just yesterday, we brought donuts to our neighborhood police station to thank the officers for their service.
Giving back is a big value to our family. That’s why, when you hear about companies doing great things, you’ve just got to sing their praises. Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company is doing just that, with their Band Together campaign.
Not only are Jewelers Mutual giving back (they’re donating a total of $2 million to support three causes!), but they’re also encouraging others to give back to their communities as well. And guess what? YOU get to help them decide where to give that money. Yep – that’s right. You can band together with Jewelers Mutual to disperse it, by voting now until July 31st.
Choose between St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and Feeding America or Food Banks Canada – the organization with the most votes gets $1 million, runner up gets $700,000, and $300,000 will go to the third place vote getter.
Not only will you be helping these organizations – you can benefit yourself by winning big. Each time you vote, you’ll be entered to win jewelry prizes from STACKED New York (with a value of $450). You can vote every day to increase your chances of winning.
I’d love to hear what you like to do to give back to your community – we are always looking for new ways to serve those around us.
Because giving back and doing good is always in style!
