How Did I Get Into This Mess?

I’ve always been a firm believer on making your future your own.

Long long time ago when I met this cute guy, he thought that his future looked like one thing¬†but I told him – why settle? You can do anything you want to do. Why assume you can’t? I didn’t have any insight, I just didn’t even think about failure. That thought hadn’t even crossed my mind. I was young and ready to take on the world. A few years later, that same cute guy went onto more schooling and became a lawyer. He’s one of the good ones, I know for certain. ūüôā

Now adays – I¬†tell the¬†girls that they are blessed to live¬†in a country where they CAN do whatever they choose. Very little boundaries or restrictions in regards to career choices. They truly can be whomever they want to be. All they need to do is – set their¬†mind to it, work hard, know there will be¬†failures and grow from them, continue on and enjoy their¬†successes. I could go on and on preaching on¬†this topic. But today I’m talkin’bout me. How did I get into this mess? Ohhh I don’t know – I guess I used my own medicine¬†on myself! But I can do¬†anything. Right?

I’m in the middle of a messy week. As we’ve been saying – it’s crazytown around here lately. This week we are switching to¬†a new register system, working the shop, coordinating and working not one but TWO events this weekend! Sports, dance, cooking club, women’s group and so on and so forth. Sooo instead of staying¬†focused on the main tasks at hand getting the job done well. I like to throw a few more things into my life just to make it a little more exciting. And since I think I can do anything {don’t tell me I can’t} I’ve decided that I’m going to become a leather handbag designer this week. Wait. What? Yes – I did make those cowhide beltbags. I suppose this is what made me think I was qualified to whip these amazing¬†things out. Humm. The jury is still out on the term “qualified”.

I wish I could show you the finished product right now. I can’t … not yet anyway. Soon. I promise! Here’s a tiny sneak peak of the new bags about to hit Wild Ruffle… ¬†… when I have a spare moment to finish them!upholstery-sweatshirt-and-motto-pants-3 upholstery-sweatshirt-and-motto-pants-2 upholstery-sweatshirt-and-motto-pants

Another fav¬†at the shop? This sweatshirt I’m calling the “Upholstery sweatshirt”. I totally¬†dig it. So different. So fun. Yesterday I paired it with a pinstriped chambray (sold out from Wild Ruffle), Motto jeans (Italy purchase), Jeffrey Campbell (c/o Shopbop).

Here’s¬†a few silly outtakes during the outfit shoot. I used Jilli as my lighting check before she took¬†my pics – sometimes she tries to make me giggle. HA!
