I love New Year’s Day.
New Year’s Eve is a much hyped night that I could take or leave. We typically have a low key night with friends and/or family, and we have a great time because we are surrounded by people we care about.
But New Year’s Day holds so much meaning.
It means a clean slate. A fresh start. It’s a blank page with no mistakes in it yet. And a time to think about goals you want to achieve, and who you truly want to be in this new year.
While I don’t love the passing of the years with my children (I’d love to freeze time and keep them at these stages forever), I do love that so many of us use it as an opportunity to right wrongs, to improve where we can, and to make positive changes.
Let’s face it, a lot of people were looking forward to closing out 2016, no matter how they feel about the passing of time. While we had a wonderful year at the shop, moving, and moving into a fun role at Fox 9, I’m looking forward to seeing what this new year has in store for us. We’ve got some great ideas and can’t wait to share them with you.
2017 is looking promising so far. We had a Vikings win (it’s about darn time) AND I started the year off with a new favorite sweater from the shop and some snazzy new shoes (thank you Shop Bop!) and a handbag (thank you Mom and Dad!). The pants may be fitting a little more snugly than usual, thanks to some indulgences over the past couple of months. But with a resolution to get back to clean eating, that should resolve itself soon. (side note – I looked into doing a juice cleanse and one of the side effects was excessive body odor as the toxins released themselves. um, no thank you – yikes!).
Cheers to the new year – to a fantastic 2017!
